Canadian Men win World Rowing Title

The Canadian men's eight rowing team won the gold medal at the FISA World Championships in Munich, Germany on September 4. The members are Kyle Hamilton (Richmond, BC), Adam Kreek (London, ON), Dominic Seiterle (Victoria, BC), Malcolm Howard (Victoria, BC), Jake Wetzel (Saskatoon, Sask.), Byrnes (Toronto, ON), Ben Rutledge (Cranbrook, BC), Kevin Light (Sidney, BC), and coxswain Brian Price (Belleville, ON).
The Canadian lightweight men's four did qualify for the Olympics, by finishing fourth: Liam Parsons (Thunder Bay, ON), Mike Lewis (Victoria, BC), Jon Beare (Toronto, ON), and Iain Brambell (Victoria, BC). The women's quad of Anna-Marie de Zwager (Victoria, BC) Krista Guloien (Port Moody, BC), Janine Hanson (Winnipeg, MB) and Rachelle de Jong (Regina, SK) was fifth overall with a time was 6:40.37 and qualified a spot in the Olympics.

Canada picked up four medals - men's eight, lightweight women's single (bronze), coxed pair (bronzed) and the adaptive mixed coxed four (bronze), and qualified five boats for the Olympics at this regatta.
