Canadian Chris Fornier sailing non-stop, alone, around the globe
Ottawa sailor Chris Fornier plans to be the first Canadian-born sailor to sail non-stop, alone, around the world - the ultimate survival test. He estimates it will take 300 days to sail from Halifax on the traditional Clipper Route around Cape Hope (Africa), Cape Leeuwin (Australia) and Cape Horn (South America) in a 30-foot sailboat called Little Sark. 3 previous attempts by Canadians resulted in 2 damaged boats and the disappearance of Gerry Roufs in 1997.
Oct.3, 2016 update: Chris has postponed his voyage in Trois-Rivieres, Quebec.
